Sad News
We were sorry to hear recently that Andy Figgins’ wife, Elaine, passed away. Many of our swimmers, past and present, will know Andy as not only head coach of East Kilbride Swimming Club, but also his input for the South Lanarkshire swimming team at national events. Sadly for Andy and his family, on the day following Elaine’s death, Elaine’s mother passed away as well.
We have conveyed our condolences to Andy on behalf of Rutherglen Amateur Swimming Club.

Ongoing Club activities
During the current Coronavirus situation we continue to follow all advice and guidance provided by government and Scottish Swimming. However, we have been keen to maintain a safe degree of continuity and interaction despite this. As well as other activities the club will provide, Fiona has been providing daily land training sessions which are available to all our swimmers. Participation is entirely voluntary and feedback received so far has been extremely positive!
Many parents have asked about making a contribution to the club in recognition of the activities available. The committee feel that all our swimmers should be able to avail the activities on offer at no cost.
However, for those parents who do wish to make a contribution they can do so by making a payment to the account you would normally pay your monthly fees in to. Could you kindly reference the payment Donation.
This can be as a one-off or as often as you wish.
Best regards and keep safe

Monthly fees – Coronavirus UPDATE
We hope you are all managing and keeping safe at this difficult time.
We have been informed by Lifestyles that we won’t be charged for future sessions until the pool reopens, therefore we would ask you all to cancel your upcoming April fees.
We will provide an update the middle of each month and so that when we know more we can advise when to reinstate your payments. For those with any back payments due please ensure these are still paid.
You will have noticed we have cancelled the Swim Manager roll out event. The last week has proved how important a move to a more robust system is for those in volunteer posts , so we will be in touch in the future about steps to move over to it.
Wishing you all well.

Swimming and coronavirus UPDATE
You have no doubt seen updates today regarding the closure of South Lanarkshire properties, including Eastfield Lifestyles, and our own Facebook post confirming our last training sessions tonight until further notice. A reminder also that all upcoming competitions have been postponed. Scottish Swimming as of tonight have also advised all aquatics clubs to suspend all activities.
We will of course keep you up-to-date as soon as we hear anything but until then the Club urges you to stay safe and follow all local and national guidelines to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Swimming and coronavirus
As with all organisations at this time, the welfare of our members, parents/carers, volunteers and the wider public is of the utmost importance. Although many upcoming competitions are being cancelled, at the moment our swim training continues as normal. We are in regular contact with Lifestyles management and are monitoring guidance from both the UK and Scottish governments as well as Scottish Swimming. Current government advice on sporting activities is that “There is presently no reason for people to stop doing their daily sport and physical activities as they normally would.” Further details of Scottish Swimming’s advice can be found here.
As the situation is changing regularly, please make yourself aware of current goverment advice.
