Goal Setting Night – Feedback

I was delighted at the attendance at the two Goal Setting Sessions I held last night despite over half the club being on holiday. There were 27 swimmers in all attended, and at least one swimmer from every Squad. A big thanks to Parents for supporting this and to Helen Park and Maria Marshall who worked with the groups to point them in the right direction.

One or two things became even clearer and some things came as a surprise. It became clear that :-

Only a very few people knew their PB’s and I was delighted to see Aimee Harvey came prepared with hers written down. All swimmers need to know these off by heart and swim with them in mind in main sets in training.

Few of the swimmers had any real Goals and no Plan, some didn’t even know what their next competition was.

It was a surprise that :-

Most swimmers would like to go to the Commonwealth Games or Olympics. Only a few were not sure.

Most swimmers wanted to move to the District Squad or higher.

All swimmers were given 3 Tasks do on the night and to take away with them. Their first Goal now is to complete the 3 tasks and hand them in on Thursday 27th October at Lifestyles.

Arranging an evening like last night is difficult and sometimes only holiday weeks are available. So as no one misses out I have made the handouts available on the Website which everyone can download and complete and return to Club Desk by Thursday 27th October 2011. Can Parents please help their swimmer to complete if possible.
