WEST DISTRICT SPRINTS AYR 3rd and 4th September 2011
I was really pleased with our swimmers performances last weekend at the Ayr Sprints. Nearly every swim was a PB and so it is hard to pick out highlights.
There were 5 performances which really impressed:-
Ryan Doherty taking Silver in the 100 IM and Bronze in the 100 Free as well as 4th in the 50 Breaststroke. To take 0.5 off his 50m Free is pretty hard and worthy of note.
Erin Holmes took 5th and 6th in the 50 Back and Breast respectively in the Finals.
Ross Leslie nearly finalled in everything with massive PB’s and missed out mainly as he has only just turned 13 and is now swimming with nearly 15 year olds.
The Girls 15/16 relay took 3rd place in the 4×50 Relay too with some impressive swimming who work better often in a Relay than they do in their individual swims!
The Girls relay Teams, 10-12, A B & C. All these Teams were very young and swam exceptionally well. Just a shame the B Team were just behind Kingston. The A team were 5th in both the Freestyle and Medley and were the youngest of the ‘A’ Teams and most will still be in the same age group next year.
This event gave a lot of our swimmers the experience of Swimming at a higher level. This is the first time Rosie Mathieson has swam at this level and in an individual event, where she swam an excellent 50m Breaststroke.
Thanks to all those swimmers who went to Ayr just for the Relays and performed so well, particularly Jessica Friel and Olivia Hanlon.
Also thanks to all the Parents who covered the Technical officials roles and Helen Park who was their all weekend coaching.
