Meet Report by Helen Park

Great weekend at the Hamilton Graded meet in Bellshill, we even won the raffle! Although we did have some tumbles on the stairs… must remember to bring our pool shoes when we return to Bellshill in the future!

All our kids were well behaved and a credit to the club (looking forward to taking our great new mascot on our next outing – big thanks to Jaqueline Holmes for this.)

We had 56 swims, and out of this we had 31 pbs, with some only missing out by small amounts.

Congratulations to Hilary Gorman winning 3 golds in her 100 breast, 100 and 50 front crawl, even with the cold. What will she do when well?

Emma Wotherspoon 1 gold in 100 back crawl – all that swimming with her duck on her head has really payed off.

Rosie Mathieson bronze in her 50 fly.

Jonathan Christie bronze in his 50 front crawl and silver in his 50 breast, (which should have been gold, if he hadn’t watched the opposition while swimming!)

Niamh MacKay bronze in her 100 fly. I would also like to mention her great 50 fly in the squadron relay.

Lina Guarin bronze in 100 fly at the end of a long day. I cant wait to see her 200 fly.

My highlight, I must say, was our gold in the squadron relay. So a big congratulation to Hazel Leslie with her fantastic 50 back crawl lead off leg in a great 39 seconds, Emma Wotherspoon on breast, Molly Lucas with her gutsy fly swim and little Abigail in the 50 frontcrawl with the big girls chasing her down. They kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I was also very proud of our other 3 relays with all our girls holding their own against the other teams. One question; where were our boys? Come on guys, we cant have all the glory going to the girls – lets start entering more galas!

I must also mention Abigail Mein, who showed that she is someone to keep an eye on in the future, with 4 pbs out of 4 swims, and the fastest 8 year old at the gala in 50 back crawl and front crawl.

Congrats to all that swam. Far too many great swims to mention; Amber Biggam ,Lauren Biggam, Megan Campbell, Katie Scott, Leila Collie, Hannah McIness, Cara Rooney, Molly Lucas, Kyle Lucas, Callum Gowran, Nicole Gunn, Roisin Homes, Rory Holmes, Melissa McCarroll, Lili Paterson.

I would also like to thank our time keepers Lorraine Biggam, Andrea Mein and  Mr Scott (Katies Dad), as well as Robert Gorman for his help in supporting and marshaling our swimmers.
